Agent: Billups doesn’t want to leave Denver

Chalk up another huge stumbling block to the proposed megatrade involving Denver, New Jersey and Detroit.

One of the key pieces, current Nugget and former Piston Chauncey Billups, is indicating that he doesn’t want to leave his hometown Nuggets, and that he would request a buyout from New Jersey if traded there.

Yahoo’s Marc Spears tweeted this: Agent Andy Miller tells Y! Sports Chauncey Billups doesn’t wanted to be traded from his hometown Nuggets and would prefer a buyout if dealt.

This complicates matters because as a precursor to signing any extension with the Nugggets, Carmelo Anthony wants to feel like the Nets would be competitive. Losing an efficient, pass-first point guard, like Billups would make an extension less likely.

Hopefully a tag team of current teammate Anthony and former teammate and good friend Richard Hamilton, can entice Chauncey to welcome the chance to play in New Jersey.
