Three things to watch

1. Some sort of trade rumors?

Teams always say they aren’t bothered by trade rumors. But it’s also rare that trade rumors get as real as the ones involving the Pistons, particularly Rip Hamilton, have over the past two days. If the trade isn’t finalized and Hamilton is still on the bench for the Pistons, that might make things awkward. Does the team play him? Sit him? Let him awkwardly pretend that they haven’t done everything they could to peddle him for whatever’s left of Troy Murphy?

2. Not close enough

The Pistons have played the Bulls tough twice this season, first blowing a 20-point lead in the second half and then losing in overtime. The first time around, the Pistons had nothing for Derrick Rose, who finished with 39 points and 7 assists. In the second game, Carlos Boozer scored 31 and had 11 rebounds. The Pistons have to keep one of those two relatively in check if they’re going to pick up a road win over Chicago tonight.

3. Can Austin Daye keep it up?

It’s no secret Pistons fans love Daye’s potential. He’s coming off his best game as a pro vs. Philly on Saturday. Can he continue to demand through his play to be in the rotation? The biggest knock on Daye to this point in his career is consistency, and if he’s truly a building block player, Saturday’s game needs to start a nice stretch of competent play for him.
