Drew Sharp: ‘Limbo, as a deliberate operating strategy, never works’

Drew Sharp of the Detroit Free Press wrote a solid column today on the cost of the Pistons’ uncertain ownership.

A couple nitpicks:

  • Tracy McGrady has been a welcome addition, and he might even be the Pistons’ first-half MVP, as Sharp asserted. But he can’t “regularly get you 15 points, seven assists and seven boards.” He’s only met those marks once this season, let alone achieve them regularly. He hasn’t averaged seven rebounds per game in nine years, and he’s never averaged seven assists per game.
  • The Pistons can’t extend McGrady.

But the column is still worth a read.
