The Clippers plan to sign Dajuan Summers of Maine in D-League, league source tells Y! Sports.
The Pistons don’t have the roster space to keep every young player they’ve ever had forever, so they’re unavoidably exposed to dropping productive players prematurely, just as every team is. But – given Arron Afflalo, Amir Johnson and Carlos Delfino – the Pistons have lost the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their ability to develop and assess these one-time marginal players who might become helpful down the road.
Maybe DaJuan Summers has the outside shot and maturity to carve out a nice NBA career, or maybe he simply lacks the talent to succeed at this level. The Pistons obviously believed the latter, and now we’ll have another chance to see whether they were correct.
