Mareese Speights – Cleveland Cavaliers: Unrestricted Free Agent

With Jason Maxiell most likely not returning to the Pistons next year, Detroit will need to find a free agent big man to fill the void left by Maxiell. The goal for the Pistons when trying to find someone to play as a role player on your team is to NOT OVER PAY! Now this seems like a logical plan, but as us Detroit fans know, Dumars is not shy at throwing piles of money at role players. If the Pistons can sign Speights for $4 million or less per season, he would be good value. Speights was traded mid-season from Memphis to Cleveland to help Memphis get under the Luxury tax, and Speights played well in limited minutes as a Cavalier. He averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds a game this past season, and could be a value if the Pistons can get him on the cheap.

Value: 2 years – $8 million
