When the Pistons took on the Atlanta Hawks tonight, it was hard to believe the news that Josh Smith would not be in the starting lineup for the Pistons.
It was almost like the second coming of Ben Gordon.
According to Keith Langlois of Pistons.com, the reason for Smith coming off the bench was because he missed a practice, which was scheduled late by head coach Maurice Cheeks.
Josh Smith didn't start because he missed Thursday practice. Teams don't usually practice after back to back.

Smith ended up only playing 20 minutes, and was 0-7 shooting.
Is this a sign for things to come with Smith?
Dave Hogg of Fox Sports Detroit may have discovered the actual reason to why Smith missed Cheeks scheduled practice:
Al Horford said after the game that Smith's father is ill. We're not sure if that had anything to do with his travel plans – he didn't talk.

Smith has not spoken a word or confirmed anything about the situation, at this time. But it’s more than certain we’ll get a word or two from him in the next couple of days.
