Things might have just got a bit more interesting for whoever is running the Pistons by the time the NBA Draft rolls around.
First, it was rumors that Detroit might not even have a GM or coach in place for the draft. Now, it looks like a ton of potential draft prospects the Pistons could be targeting will be skipping the NBA Draft Combine this week in Chicago.
After it was reported that the projected top three picks — Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins, and Joel Embiid would not be at the combine, ESPN draft expert Chad Ford opened the lid on a few more names that won’t be attending.

Kentucky’s Julius Randle, Arizona’s Aaron Gordon, Creighton’s Doug McDermott and Michigan’s Nik Stauskas have all been picked by the top mock drafters as Pistons draft targets.
In the latest mock draft at Draft Express, it’s McDermott who the experts believe will be the Pistons target because of the immediate void he fills.
While this might feel somewhat high for McDermott, the skill-set he brings is highly in demand these days, and it’s difficult to find someone who can (theoretically) so seamlessly be plugged in to a team and fill a gaping hole.
Other mock drafts have seen the athletic Aaron Gordon being available at number 8 and good fit for Detroit.
Over 60 players have committed to participate at the combine Thursday and Friday. It will be televised on ESPN U and ESPN 2 throughout the two day event.
