NBA Finals Primer: Game 1 Tip Off Tonight

The NBA Finals are finally here, as the Spurs and Heat meet to decide a champion for second straight season. For the Spurs, this series about revenge and getting back what they feel was rightfully theirs last season before it slipped away from their fingertips. Also on the line is securing the fifth title in franchise history and the first since 2007.

For the Heat, this trip to the finals is about legacy. With a series win, they will become the first team to three peat since the 2000,2001,2002 Los Angeles Lakers.

It just might be the last song for three-time NBA Finals MVP Tim Duncan. Meanwhile, LeBron James has put this Miami Heat team on his back in the playoffs. James would join Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal as the only players to win three straight Finals MVPs if he were able to capture the honor.
