Pistons Palace Scouting Report

It’s not every day that you see a shooting guard available in the 2nd round that has a 7′ wingspan. Jordan McRae — better known as the Orange Mamba in Knoxville Tennessee, has a true understanding of how important defense is. Whether it’s blocking shots at a highly consistent rate, or grabbing swipes in the passing lanes. One thing you know you’ll get from him is an outstanding work ethic.

While he is mainly considered a shooting guard, McRae also played point guard for the Volunteers his junior year. McRae is athletic and has become a prolific scorer at the college level. What separates him though from some other prospects is his solid understanding of the ebb and flow of offense.

He understands when a defense is crowding him off the pick and roll to dish it off. If the lag, he is money with his mid-range jumper

McRae does need to put some muscle on his frame, but he could be quite a steal with the 38th pick and could develop beyond what he shown on the court during his four years at Tennessee.
