One source insists nothing imminent, but I’m told Pistons and Kings have discussed a trade that would send Josh Smith to Sacramento
One potential scenario, I’m told, would send Smith to Kings for Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams. Jason Terry might be another option
No word deal is imminent (yet) but Sacramento’s well-known fondness for Rajon Rondo would help explain Kings’ interest in his buddy JSmoove
Immediate focus for Kings, though, is dealing No. 8 pick, which looks increasingly inevitable between now and Thursday’s draft proceedings
Rumored Sacramento-Detroit trade is "dead" according to a team source. Talks were ongoing for a few days, but Detroit nixed it this morning.
The primary return would have certainly been based on Carl Landry, Jason Thompson and Jason Terry. Getting Derrick Williams would be incredible.
Don’t even think about the No. 8 pick. That’s far, far, far too valuable for Smith.
At this point, just breaking Smith up into lesser pieces could be helpful. Landry and Thompson are overpaid and under contract just as long as Smith, but the final year of Thompson’s contract is only partially guaranteed. Terry’s contract expires after next season, though his useful days might be over.
It wouldn’t have been much for Smith – not even flexibility. Giving him away, which probably isn’t possible, would have been preferable to taking different bad contracts.
I’m at least glad the Pistons are exploring Smith trades, though. Hopefully, they find one.
