Pistons announce Summer League Roster

Despite not having any draftees ready to play in the Orlando Summer league that gets underway on Saturday, the Pistons have put together a roster of interesting players with potential to earn roster spots.

Only three current players under contract will be on the team, meaning there’s an ample opportunity for some of the players the Pistons have brought in to either impress Pistons management or other teams across the league.

As expected, Kevtavious Caldwell-Pope, Tony Mitchell and Peyton Siva will be the catalysts that are already under contract for the Pistonss.

Siva, who faces a team option at the end of Summer League, has the most to prove.

KCP will be looking to earn more playing time at either shooting guard or small forward, alongside Jodie Meeks, Jonas Jerebko, Luigi Datome, and Kyle Singler — plus anyone that Detroit adds in free agency.

Here’s a full look at the Pistons roster.

The Orlando Summer league gets underway on Saturday for the Pistons, when they play Houston at 3 PM ET. They will also play on Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies at 3 PM.

We’ll have a complete primer for you Friday to get you ready for Summer League play.

The Pistons will be coached by assistant Bob Beyer. He will be assisted by Brendan Malone.

Beside rookies the Pistons are giving a chance to prove themselves, the roster features a handful of players that once played for Stan Van Gundy at one point or another.

Veterans Brian Cook, DeAndre Liggins, and Justin Harpe all played for the Van Gundy when he was the coach of the Magic.

Rookies on the roster include Markel Starks of Georgetown, Tristan Spurlock of Central Florida, Jordan Heath of Caniscius, and Florida State’s Ian Miller.
