Release Josh Harrellson
The signing of Aaron Gray is writing on the wall that the Pistons want to get bigger in the interior and have more traditional players in the post.
Especially considering Josh Smith will exclusively play at power forward next season if still a part of the Pistons.
This doesn’t bode well for Harrellson, who is more of a stretch four. His game isn’t suited for the traditional post up center. Less than ten percent of his field goals came from 3 to 10 feet. He improved his post game last year with the Pistons, but it wasn’t enough to impress the new coaching staff on film.
Detroit has until July 20th to make a decision on the man known as ‘Jorts’ before his contract is fully guaranteed. Releasing him would open up a final spot for Greg Monroe.
Vince Ellis at The Free Press tweeted yesterday that a back injury might also be in play for Harrellson.
