It was an interesting weekend for Andre Drummond, who looked to showcase his skills to the fans and coaching staff of team USA on Friday — when the 20 players invited to training camp competed in Las Vegas at the Thomas and Mack Center in a showcase of skills.
Drummond finished with 4 points on 2/5 shooting and 5 total rebounds.
Individual performance didn’t seem to matter though for anyone but Derrick Rose, who stole the show in his first competition in front of fans since leaving a game last year early in November with his second straight season ending knee surgery.
After the game, TMZ Sports caught up with Andre Drummond in the airport to ask him about the devastating Paul George injury. Drummond, who obviously didn’t want to be bothered, said the Pacer forward was in high spirits.
News had been leaking out of training camp that Rose was back to old self before Friday’s showcase. Drummond also touched on the Chicago Bulls point guard with the awkward dude who confronted him at the Las Vegas Airport.
“He looks great,” said Drummond to the TMZ reporter. “He’s a Ferrari amongst Nissans out there.”
C’mon Andre, you play in the Motor City, you couldn’t come up with anything better than that?
How about he’s a Corvette amongst Cavaliers? Or a Thunderbird amongst Tauruses?
Okay — no hard feelings.
I guess the real question is if Derrick Rose is a Ferrari and everyone else is a Nissan.
What in the heck is Andre Drummond?
