Credit Tom Gores as Pistons continue to expand staff

Keith Langlois of Pistons.com:

There might be a few more hires to make, but the legwork that went into them – all the networking and interviewing and screening – is behind them.

“I need one more assistant coach. That’s going to come this week,” Van Gundy told me

“We’ve also got to hire one more video person, but we’ve interviewed everybody. I think (general manager) Jeff (Bower) is adding one more scout and one more person upstairs working with analytics and strategic planning. But in all of those, the decisions are imminent. I think we’ll have them within a week, probably.”

You better quickly get to know Tim Hardaway Sr., Quentin Richardson, Malik Allen and Jeff Nix (and how he fits in the front office). Soon, there will be more new names to learn.

Tom Gores deserves credit for expanding the staff and paying for these recently created positions. This was pushed by Stan Van Gundy all along, but it wouldn’t happen without Gores’ backing.
