2014-15 Detroit Pistons schedule released

The road to the regular season might seem like a long ways away, but thanks to the NBA we now know where the road will take us Pistons fans.

The League office released the 2014-15 regular season schedule this evening on an NBA TV special.

The Detroit Pistons will open up the season on a short Western Conference road trip to face the Denver Nuggets on October 29th and the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 30th.

Detroit will the host Deron Williams and the Brooklyn Nets at the Palace on November 1st.  Alongside the home opener, Detroit will host the Knicks, Bucks and Jazz as part of an four game opening home stand.

The regular season schedule also features some great teams outside of the Central division that will make their way to the Palace. The Clippers, Thunder, Spurs, Lakers, Mavericks and Rockets are all part of a solid group of teams making their way to Detroit.

Nationally, the Pistons will be featured during three games this season.

ESPN will air the Pistons in Atlanta on January 19th and in Chicago on April 3rd.  NBA TV will also pick up the Pistons in Sacramento on December 13th.

A local television schedule from Fox Sports Detroit will come at a later date. Detroit Sports 105.1 and the Pistons radio network will cover every regular season game.

Detroit’s heaviest road tests will come late in the season. Pistons.com beat writer Keith Langlois has the full details of the late season test that could be the difference between the playoffs and going home after the regular season.

Beginning with the last game of February at rising Eastern contender Washington, the Pistons will play 13 of 18 games on the road. A dozen of those 18 games come against 2014 playoff teams. Included will be seven games against Eastern Conference playoff teams from last season, two apiece against Charlotte and Chicago.

Whether the Pistons make the playoffs or not might well come down to how much momentum they can gather going into that stretch and how they weather the travails of such a road-heavy finish.

Inside the Central Division, LeBron James and company will visit the Palace January 27th and February 24th. The Chicago Bulls will make their way to the Motor City on February 20th and March 21st.
