Apparently, coming off the bench is the key.

A game after Greg Monroe led the Pistons in points and rebounds as a reserve, Andre Drummond moved to the bench and excelled.

Drummond had 15 points and 16 rebounds in the Pistons’ 94-80 preseason win over the Bucks.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 20 points on nine shots in the untelevised victory

The big-man starters – Josh Smith (12 points and nine rebounds) and Greg Monroe (10 points and nine rebounds) – were solid, but Drummond stole the show. For Stan Van Gundy, the experimenting continues.

Really, I believe any combo of two of Smith, Monroe and Drummond can work. It’s just a matter of maximizing each duo, and these preseason games help the coach learn how to do that.
