What to look for

All Pistons fans want exactly two of Josh Smith, Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond to start.

Some Pistons fans want Smith to start. Some want Monroe to start.

But nobody wants this.

Stan Van Gundy will start Smith and Monroe with Andre Drummond beginning the game on the bench tonight.

But don’t worry.

Van Gundy has called Drummond the only locked starter, so this obviously is a preseason experiment – and a good one. Even though Smith and Monroe won’t start together during the regular season, they’ll play plenty of minutes together. It’s best Van Gundy knows the most effective way to deploy them.

That begins tonight.
