Jody Genessy of the Deseret News:

"Why the Steve Novak destination confusion? I’m told he was originally to be traded to Detroit before the Pistons acquired Tayshaun Prince."

It took a while for all the details to leak with the Reggie Jackson trade, and this explains some of the delay. Novak wound up going from the Jazz to the Thunder.

I’m glad the Pistons passed on him. Sure, he fits Stan Van Gundy’s system as a stretch four (and could play some small forward). But Novak has $3,750,001 guaranteed next season, and I’d rather just have the cap space.

Novak or no Novak, I’m not a big fan of the Tayshaun Prince trade. But at least Prince is on an expiring contract.
