Pistons release:

"The Detroit Pistons announced this morning that forward/center Greg Monroe will miss tonight’s game vs. Memphis with a right knee strain. The injury occurred during Monday’s practice and was confirmed following an MRI exam. Monroe will be re-evaluated on Wednesday to determine his status for Detroit’s game at Philadelphia."

Monroe has missed just one game previously due to injury in his five-season NBA career. His ability to stay healthy is an underrated aspect of his value.

In the short term, this isn’t exactly bad news for the Pistons. They have the NBA’s seventh-worst record and a chance to catch the Kings for sixth worst – though it’s hard to see Detroit positioning itself better than that for the draft.

Monroe should take his time healing, which would not only help the team, but ensure he maximizes his prospects in free agency this summer.

My guess is Anthony Tolliver starts – which could be a preview of the worst-case scenario for next season.
