Grading the Detroit Pistons win over the Milwaukee Bucks
By Duncan Smith
After a tremendously disappointing outing on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets, the Detroit Pistons came as close to doing everything right as you can hope. They went on the road and demolished a pretty good Milwaukee Bucks team, and reminded former teammate Greg Monroe that maybe he’s missing out on something good back in Detroit.
The Pistons rested Jodie Meeks in this one, opting to give Reggie Bullock a chance to see more time on the floor. Head coach Stan Van Gundy has indicated that Bullock has a serious shot at making the opening night roster, and we’ll discuss just how he utilized his opportunity shortly.
The Pistons were able to keep two former teammates from doing too much damage for the Bucks. Forward Khris Middleton was held scoreless in 23 minutes of play, and committed five turnovers before fouling out. The aforementioned Greg Monroe had a good stat line, with 18 points on 5-11 shooting and 8-9 from the free throw line, but he was the only player for the Bucks who really showed up on Saturday.
As for the Pistons’ individual performances themselves, let’s get to the grades.
