Andre Drummond had a career season for the Detroit Pistons in 2015-16, and the basketball world took note as he was named to the All-NBA Third Team.

Andre Drummond came a long way this past season, particularly during his torrid start to 2015-16. Through the first 20 games of the season, he was averaging 18.5 points and 17 rebounds per game and had six games of 20 or more rebounds.

Included in that start was a three game stretch in early November where he recorded 20 points and 20 rebounds against the Chicago Bulls, 25 points and 29 rebounds against the Indiana Pacers and 29 points and 27 rebounds against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Drummond wrapped up the season with career high numbers in points, rebounds and steals, averaging 16.2 points, an NBA-best 14.8 rebounds per game and topped it off with 1.5 steals per game. He also managed to record a career high in minutes per game thanks to reducing his fouls per 36 minutes to just 3.3, down from 4.1 a season ago.

He managed that increase in minutes in spite of the fact that he was often removed from close games late due to his poor free throw shooting. Unfortunately his free throw numbers hurt the overall picture for Drummond, as he hit a remarkably poor 35.5 percent of his shots from the line.

Drummond’s efforts this season were recognized by the NBA world as he was named to the All-NBA third team, his first appearance on an All-NBA team. Joining Drummond on the third team are LaMarcus Aldridge of the San Antonio Spurs, Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors, Paul George of the Indiana Pacers and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors.

Drummond had the most first team votes of anybody on the third team with 13, and he led all players on that roster with 173 total voting points in his favor.

The All-NBA first team consisted of LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs.
