The Detroit Pistons are looking to add a big man and a backup point guard in free agency. But what if they could fill at least one of those needs via the trade market? We’ll explore four trades that could make sense for the Pistons.

What if the Detroit Pistons could solve one of their biggest needs before the start of free agency?

What if the Pistons could find a solution at back up point guard and still have some extra cash to add one more big man?

I think we could all agree that would be a dream scenario for the Pistons, but is it possible?

It’s possible.

In the ensuing slides, we’ll break down how the Pistons could solve their roster issues while also leaving the door open for adding a veteran in free agency in the front court.

Not all of the trades your about to read will leave the Pistons with cash, but most of them will.

Disclaimer–all of the trades will center around Jodie Meeks, who the Pistons are actively shopping.

One thing to note before we move on: The Pistons have been shopping Jodie Meeks, but his trade value could best be summarized as uncertain–he hardly played last year and has been bitten by the injury bug for most of his tenure in Detroit.

With that said, It’s really hard to gauge if the Pistons could get a decent return for him.

With Meeks being the only player that the Pistons can really afford to part with, the following trades have varying degrees of successfully happening.

Let’s humor what the Pistons might be able to pull off. With what Jeff Bower and Stan Van Gundy have been able to accomplish on the trade market over the last two seasons, I’m left feeling that there is more room to be optimistic than not.
