Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson’s places are not secure with the Detroit Pistons after a report that the team is gauging trade interest in both players.

In an unsurprising bit of news, a report surfaced Thursday afternoon that the Detroit Pistons were gauging trade interest in both Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson. While the Pistons were entertaining offers for both players at the trade deadline, nothing came down the pipe that interested them enough to make a deal.

Per Michael Scotto, senior NBA writer for Basketball Insiders:

It’s not news that the Pistons plan to entertain offers for either player considering the tone of the trade deadline, but it does go to show that the organization isn’t fixed in place on a franchise cornerstone or even a primary style of play. Considering the fact that coach Stan Van Gundy’s one-in four-out scheme doesn’t really work as designed with a player of Drummond’s particular skill-set, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that all options are on the table for the Pistons.

Reggie Jackson’s trade value may be at an all-time low as teams aren’t sure what to expect out of him after a frustrating season hampered by knee tendinitis. He’s due $16 million this season and $51 over the final three years of his contract.

Because Jackson’s trade value is much lower than his actual value to the Detroit Pistons if his rehab goes well and he returns to the form of his breakout 2015-16 season, it’s not particularly likely that he’ll be moved unless a team in dire straits for a point guard is willing to make an overpay.

Jackson could be moved for a talent upgrade, cap relief or good draft picks in this year’s draft or future drafts. Deals like this aren’t likely to be forthcoming unless he has a hot start to the season and the Pistons decide they’re still interested in moving on.

As for Andre Drummond, he’s in much higher demand. He’s the 12th name on Matt Moore’s list of the 30 most sought after players in the NBA, he won’t turn 24 until August, and he can provide a big rebounding to teams who have weaknesses on the boards. Mind you, his hefty contract makes him an expensive acquisition for a team looking to upgrade its front court. He’s due about $105 million over the next four seasons.

This report is a clear indication from the Detroit Pistons front office that all options are on the table going into the summer of 2017.
