Anthony Davis’ time with the New Orleans Pelicans is coming to an end. Should the Detroit Pistons be involved in a three team Anthony Davis trade?

The Detroit Pistons are going to be looking at every option to add depth and improve their roster. One of those options includes making a trade.

The biggest and hottest potential trade that everyone is chattering about is one that includes Anthony Davis. Davis has made it clear that he has no intention of resigning with the Pelicans.

And multiple teams have looked to trade for him before the trade deadline. But the Pelicans did not like any offer that was proposed. The main teams looking to acquire Anthony Davis? The Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and the New York Knicks.

The Lakers threw many offers at the Pelicans before the trade deadline. And many people speculate that the Pelicans were playing a petty game and refusing to make a deal with the Lakers. But with a new Vice President of Basketball Operations in New Orleans David Griffin and the Lakers moving up to fourth in the NBA Draft, there has been new life of a trade occurring

But for the Celtics, Anthony Davis’ agent Rich Paul has come out and warned the Celtics front office about trading for Davis. Meaning that Anthony Davis does not want to be traded to Boston. And Boston has to wait until July 1st to trade for Davis.

Even if the Pelicans were to wait until July 1st to make a deal, can they beat out the Lakers offer?

If the Lakers and Pelicans were to make a deal, should the Detroit Pistons hop in to become that third team?

The Piston’s biggest need right now is a reliable wing player. And looking at the Pelicans’ roster, E’Twaun Moore is probably not on the Pistons list of candidates. And Julius Randle wouldn’t be the greatest fit next to Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond.

But with the Lakers, Brandon Ingram would likely land in New Orleans. And Kyle Kuzma seems to be off-limits by the Lakers. And the Pistons most certainly wouldn’t try the Kentavious Caldwell-Pope experiment again.

That leaves the Pistons with two players; Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart. Lonzo Ball’s father, LaVar Ball has made it clear that he does not want his son playing for the Pelicans. And Detroit trading for him would probably be a lot less desirable than New Orleans.

Josh Hart to the Pistons would be interesting. After a great rookie season with the team, his efficiency dropped in his second season. Although he did manage to continue and play great defense in his second season.

But Hart would be an undersized wing player; which makes the Pistons wing issue even more problematic. With that, the Pistons should not be interested as a third team involved.
