Andre Drummond

Opening 2K16 Rating: 83

Closing 2K16 Rating: 89

Net Rating Change: +6

Projected 2K17 Rating: 90

Editor’s note: This post was completed before Andre Drummond’s rating of 87 was released early by 2K Sports at his request. We left it as is for the sake of authenticity.

Andre Drummond opened last season as the highest rated Piston, improved the most of all Pistons, and finished the season as not just the highest rated Piston but the second-highest rated center in the NBA behind DeMarcus Cousins and his rating of 90 overall. Lofty company, but well-deserved for the 23 year-old Drummond.

Drummond had career highs in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.2 points and an NBA-leading 14.8 rebounds per game. He added 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game, and he kept his foul trouble in check, averaging a career-best of just 3.3 fouls per 36 minutes.

His free throw issues are well-documented, but with those problems and the fact that his post offense and defense both struggle as well, any improvement from those standpoints could see his rating surge.

He’s been working on his post game and footwork this offseason, so we should see at least some marginal improvement in those categories.

Drummond will be hard-pressed to overtake Boogie, and Karl-Anthony Towns (86 overall) is charging hard behind them for a top-three spot in the NBA, but expect some upwards movement from Drummond and a rating of 90 overall.
