Stanley Johnson

Stanley Johnson played in 77 games this season and averaged 17.8 minutes per game. He averaged 4.4 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game, 1.4 assists per game, and 0.9 steals per game. Johnson shot 35.3 percent from the field, 29.2 percent three-point shooting, and 67.9 percent free throw shooting.

He didn’t really take a step forward this season, particularly on the offensive end, struggling with his shot as the numbers suggest. He showed glimpses of his potential including hitting a vital three-point shot in one of the final four games of the season, to seal the win.

Stanley Johnson needs to start hitting his shot more consistently and continue to bring the effort and energy that he always does and that the Pistons so very much need. If he can play defense every night like he did against LeBron James in the playoffs last season then he will force his way into a lot more playing time.

Chances he remains a Piston: 100 percent. Johnson is still on his rookie contract with two years left (assuming his team option is picked up). He is a productive member of the squad, who will hopefully take a step forward and become an integral part in the coming season and really force Stan Van Gundy into giving him lots of minutes.
