Detroit Pistons: What could a potential Bogdanovic-Beauchamp trade look like?

Framework for a Bogdanovic to Milwaukee trade will be a bit tricky, thanks to his over $19 million salary per season. The Bucks don’t have many expiring contracts that they are trying to get off of, making Bogdanovic’s $19 million difficult to take on. Beauchamp’s rookie deal doesn’t come close to offsetting that number.

To make a deal work, the Pistons would need to take on additional players from Milwaukee, the likes of Grayson Allen, George Hill, and or Joe Ingles. Of those additional players, only Allen has a current contract that goes past this season, as he is owed $8.5 million a year through next year. Due to this, I’d guess that Detroit would rather take on contracts expiring this year to maintain their financial flexibility moving forward.

In terms of draft capital, Milwaukee owns their own first round picks in 2028 and 2029. New Orleans holds rights to swap firsts with Milwaukee in 2024 and 2026.

For a deal to happen, the Detroit Pistons would ask for at least one of those unprotected firsts. The Bucks would likely be willing to deal one of their future unprotected firsts in a ‘win-now’ trade.

If the Bucks would need Detroit to take on additional salary to make a deal work, Troy Weaver would likely ask for additional draft capital from Milwaukee in return.

If the Detroit Pistons do deal Bogdanovic, they need to bring back at least one young player who looks NBA-ready and has upside.
