Proposed Nuggets, Nets, Pistons 3-way trade could be largest in NBA history

As everyone in the NBA universe tries to divulge the ultimate permutation of the trade that will end with Carmelo Anthony joining the New Jersey Nets, a New York Post writer is saying that the trade could go down as the largest in NBA history.

"As many as 17 players, plus multiple draft picks, could be involved in the deal, several sources confirmed. One league executive said “15 to 17 players could ultimately be involved.” And there are all the draft picks to consider, too."

The story goes on to mention two new nuggets of information, but I’m not sure I’d put much stock into it. First, there is no hold-up on the trade due to the Pistons being reluctant to relinquish their first-round draft pick in the upcoming draft. Second, one of the players leaving the Pistons, which I hadn’t seen mentioned previously, is Terrico White. He would join Richard Hamilton and possibly others in the deal.

The previous record trade was undertaken in 2005 in a 13-player swap involving Miami, Memphis, New Orleans, Boston and Utah.
