Kuester explodes starting roster: Say hello to the McGrady, Stuckey, Prince, Wilcox, Monroe era

facebooktwitterreddit

Well, I can’t say I saw this one coming. Following another bizarre “up by 10, lose by 15” performance against the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons coach John Kuester has exploded his starting lineup, leaving only one position unscathed.

The new lineup shakes out like this: PG – Tracy McGrady, SG – Rodney Stuckey, SF – Tayshaun Prince, – PF – Chris Wilcox, C – Greg Monroe.

Leaving aside for the moment the inclusion of Chris Wilcox over either of Ben Wallace or Charlie Villanueva, this lineup could have seismic ramifications for the Pistons season and into the future (cough, Stuckey, cough), but we’ll get into all that later.

I’d just like to make a simple point:

Pistons new and improved(?) starting lineup: roughly $21 million.

Pistons new and improved(?) bench: $37 million.

And just imagine if Tayshaun Prince gets hurt or traded and Kuester goes with the very deserving Austin Daye to fill the role.
