Injured Pistons small forward Corey Maggette participated in shootaround before Wednesday’s season-opener against the Houston Rockets and practiced Thursday before the Pistons left for Phoenix, the first stop on a six-game road trip. Maggette reported no issues with his lingering calf strain, but according to MLive’s Brendan Savage, Maggette also was non-committal on whether he’d return on this road trip:
“I’m not going to say,” Maggette said after practice Thursday. “I don’t know if I’m going to play on the trip. Hopefully, I will.
“Like I said, one day at a time.”
I’ve actually enjoyed having Maggette around much more than I thought I would when the Pistons initially traded for him because of his work with the young players, particularly with Andre Drummond. But I also don’t necessarily want to see him play a lot if his minutes come at the expense of young players, particularly Kim English and Kyle Singler, who played well in the season opener.
