Josh Harrellson and Peyton Siva survive deadline, get contracts guaranteed through end of season

As expected, the Pistons didn’t waive Josh Harrellson or Peyton Siva before tonight’s 5 p.m. deadline.

That was definitely the right move for Harrellson and probably the right move for Siva, whose ability is harder to gauge because a larger share of his contributions come behind the scenes.

At minimum, good for both those guys as individuals. Harrellson was cut this same time last year by the Heat, and Siva has gone from national champion to D-Leaguer. This to be a great day for them, considering the financial ramifications. Harrellson is now guaranteed to make $504,567 the rest of the season, and the rest of Siva’s salary is $279,691.
