Isiah Thomas discussing buying a share of Pistons

Vincent Goodwill of The Detroit News:

"Thomas and team officials are in preliminary discussions to make Thomas a minority owner, but the exact percentage hasn’t been agreed upon. It would make Thomas one of a few African-Americans with a stake in an NBA team.“Not a ceremonial piece, but a respectable piece,” was how a source with knowledge of the negotiations termed the potential deal."

I’d love to have Isiah Thomas back in the fold, especially if it’s away from basketball operations. He’s such an icon in the franchise’s history.

What constitutes “a ceremonial” piece is in the eye of the beholder, but I’d be fairly surprised if Thomas’ stake is more than what I’d consider ceremonial.
