Pistons interested in Brian Roberts

Michael Scotto of SheridanHoops.com:

"Sources: Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies have expressed interest in free agent point guard Brian Roberts."

Roberts has played both his NBA seasons with New Orleans (arriving after Pistons general manager Jeff Bower left). He is represented by ASM Sports, the agency that also represents Jodie Meeks, Cartier Martin and Aaron Gray.

Roberts is a decent backup point guard, and he had to fight to make the NBA after going undrafted and playing overseas. He’s likable. However, at 28, he also has little upside remaining.

He would fit right in with Detroit’s other signings this summer.

The Pistons are running out of roster spots, but like with Josh Harrellson and Gray, the Pistons could waive Peyton Siva before July 13 and replace him with Roberts. Siva left the Pistons’ summer-league game early yesterday due to a hamstring injury, which might seal his fate.
