Pistons hire Euroleague legend J.R. Holden as scout

David Pick of Eurobasket.com:

"The Detroit Pistons add J.R. Holden – a Euro-legend and overseas icon – to scout staff, according to source."

Holden, who went undrafted out of Bucknell in 1998, never played in the NBA. But he had a storied career overseas, even making the Euroleague All-Decade Team.

He reached seven straight final fours and won championships in 2006 and 2008 with CSKA Moscow. Holden also holds Russian (and American) citizenship and has represented Russia in international play.

Who knows how sharp Holden’s eye for talent will be, but he’s certainly been around. There’s definite potential for him to leverage his foreign contacts and help with overseas scouting.
