Pistons hire Pat Garrity

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

"The Detroit Pistons have hired ex-NBA forward Pat Garrity as their new director of strategic planning, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Garrity has had a successful post-playing career in the financial industry"

Garrity spent a majority of his career with the Magic, including Stan Van Gundy’s first season in Orlando. Van Gundy is still, mostly, keeping it close to the vest.

Titles can be misleading, but this sure sounds like it could be a non-basketball position. I’m curious what Garrity’s actual duties will be.
