Greg Monroe makes Bill Simmons’ annual trade value column

Last year, Dan Feldman lamented the fact that Bill Simmons’ annual trade value column was a good indicator of the Pistons’ decline. In last year’s column, not a single Piston made it. Feldman posted a nice year-by-year breakdown of Pistons who made the cut.

This year, however, the Pistons have a building block in Greg Monroe, and he’s got the team back on the board at No. 47:

"47. Greg MonroeRemember when I said in October, “You wait, in four months, Greg Monroe and Tracy McGrady will be CARRYING the Pistons!” Oh wait, nobody said that."

Their numbers have also declined on Simmons’ worst contracts portion of the column. After having four players make it last year, only Rip Hamilton and Charlie Villanueva were on it this year.

It’s a two-part column (part 1 and part 2), and if you’ve never read it before, you’re missing out, even if you’re not a huge Simmons fan.
