Ben Wallace gets fine and probation on drunken driving and gun charges

From WXYZ in Detroit:

"Pistons’ center Ben Wallace was sentenced Tuesday morning on misdemeanor charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated and Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence.Wallace was sentenced to a $600 fine and one year probation. Wallace will also incur $1620 in supervisory costs. Wallace will have to pay $130 to the Crime Victims fund and perform 30 hours of community service at the Boys and Girls Club."

Wallace is lucky to avoid jail time because the charges were serious, particularly the gun charge. The fact that Wallace was a first-time offender with a great reputation who was fully cooperative with police obviously helped him here. Hopefully now that this is behind him, he can get to work on capping off what is probably the final season of his NBA career.
