Pistons CAN trade Rodney Stuckey this season

facebooktwitterreddit

I previously linked to a report by Marc Stein of ESPN that said the Pistons could not trade Rodney Stuckey this season, due to terms of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. But Stuckey became tradable March 1, according to a source with knowledge of the NBA’s CBA.

In future seasons, players like Stuckey, whose salaries increased by at least 120 percent from the previous season, can’t be traded until the latter of three months from signing or Jan. 15. This season, due to the protracted schedule, such players can’t be traded until the latter of two months from signing or March 1.

Rodney Stuckey agreed to terms with the Pistons on Dec. 17, and he officially signed Dec. 19, according to Stein.

ESPN’s trade machine has Stuckey available to use for trade ideas.
