Greg Monroe receives early unofficial Most Improved Player vote

I participated in a 5-on-5 about NBA awards if the season ended today. I didn’t pick any Pistons, but Royce Young of Daily Thunder chose Greg Monroe as his Most Improved Player:

"Royce Young, Daily Thunder: Greg Monroe. Jeremy Lin certainly is the breakout player of the year, but I don’t think you can hand an award to a guy that played only 35 games. In terms of who improved the most, I think it’s Monroe, who has quietly evolved into one of the most dynamic, versatile bigs in the league."

Monroe will certainly receive consideration for the award, and as Jeremy Lin – my choice in the picks – continues to miss games, Monroe will become more and more deserving of actually winning it. But it’s a wide field, including Nikola Pekovic and Danny Green, who also received votes in our picks.
