How an eavesdropping accountant might help the Pistons get Andre Drummond
By Dan Feldman
Andre Drummond probably still remains a longshot for the Pistons at No. 9, but an eavesdropping accountant might help their odds.
Brent M. Toca, a New Orleans accountant, tweeted from his now-protected account (hat tip: Joe Gerrity of Hornets247.com):
"Listening to Dell Demps discuss draft prospects makes me feel like a spy"
"From what I am hearing from Dell Demps re #hornets if rivers and lillard are there at 10 lillard is the pick. Thinks he can develop and fit"
The Trail Blazers, who hold the No. 6 and No. 11 picks, reportedly like Drummond and Damian Lillard. If they don’t believe Lillard will be available at No. 11, the Trail Blazers would be more inclined to draft him at No. 6 – which clears the biggest hurdle in Drummond falling to No. 9.
Maybe Toca’s account is a hoax, or maybe Demps was even deliberately speaking aloud in public to plant false information. But at this time of year, when nearly every draft report comes from someone with an agenda, Toca seems more believable than most sources. At least, I hope Portland shares that view – and uses the information to pick Lillard.
