Darvin Ham sold his 2004 Pistons championship ring

Perry A. Farrell of the Detroit Free Press:

"Darvin Ham, a Saginaw native and a member of the Pistons’ 2004 championship team, put his ring up for auction so a church could benefit from its proceeds."It was one of the best things I’ve ever done,” said Ham, a Lakers assistant coach."

I just want to point out that not every championship ring turning up on eBay means another athlete has gone broke. Championship rings might be irreplaceable to some, but to others, they’re just another piece of jewelry. Kudos to Ham for handling his ring how he sees fit and selling it for what sounds like a good cause.
