"Restricted free agent Tyreke Evans (Kings) expected to meet with the Detroit Pistons & Kings today in Los Angeles. Already met with Pelicans"
Combo guards!
Evans was incredible as a rookie, joining LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson as the only first-year players to post 20 points, five rebounds and five assists per game. But Evans lost his way in the next couple years, producing less as the Kings shifted him from point guard to the wing. You can play the chicken-or-the-egg game with those two events, but Evans is fairly enigmatic.
He rebounded with a solid 2012-13, showing some of his rookie-year strengths from his new wing position, and here we are with Evans a restricted free agent.
Perhaps, the Kings’ math changes now that they drafted Ben McLemore, but the type of offer necessary to prevent the Kings from matching should probably make Evans undesirable to the Pistons.
