Chris Forsberg of ESPN:

"The Boston Celtics are working to finalize a trade that will send center Joel Anthony to the Detroit Pistons for guard Will Bynum, according to a league source."

Vincent Goodwill of The Detroit News:

"Source confirms Will Bynum trade to Boston for Joel Anthony"

Aaron Gray is dealing with his heart issue, and Hasheem Thabeet is Hasheem Thabeet. The Pistons still needed a center behind Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.

Anthony isn’t necessarily better than Bynum, but he’s a better fit – and costs $884,092 more. Like Bynum, Anthony is on a guaranteed expiring contract, so the affect won’t be felt beyond this season, when it’ll be felt only by Tom Gores’ checkbook.

The Pistons will still have to waive a player with a guaranteed contract. With Bynum out of the running, Gray and Tony Mitchell are decent bets.
