Detroit Pistons 2015 NBA Draft Big Board
3. Karl-Anthony Towns, Kentucky, PF, 6-11/248, Freshman
Stats: 18.8 MIN/G, 9.1 PPG, REB/G 6.7, AST/G 1.4 FG % 53.8 FG3 % 20 FT % 71.4
On the last draft post on PistonPowered we covered Jahlil Okafor as a potential replacement next season for likely departing big(s), Josh Smith and/or Greg Monroe. While I still think he could play power forward, Okafor is better suited to play center in the NBA and thus not the best fit next to Drummond. Towns, however, who can also play either power forward or center in the NBA, is probably best suited to play power forward thanks to his superior outside shot in regards to most post players his age.
One knock on post players who have a nice outside game is the perception that they shoot from outside because they aren’t very athletic. That may be true, but not in Towns case as evident by his 2.8-blocks a game in just under 19-minutes of action per game.
Next: 4. Myles Turner The Next LaMarcus Aldridge?
