4. Myles Turner, Texas, PF, 6-11/240, Freshman

Stats: 19.9 MIN/G, 11.4 PPG, REB/G 6.9, AST/G 1.0 FG % 50.9 FG3 % 30.8 FT % 85.3

Some feel Turner has NBA upside comparable to former Texas Longhorn, LaMarcus Aldridge. It’s an obivious comparison as both have similar skill sets and attend(ed) Texas, but a closer look at their résumés reveals the two stretch fours have much more in common than playing for Rick Barnes.

In fact, Aldridge measured in at the same height/weight at 6-11/240 lbs as Turner in his freshman season. But size isn’t the only area the two have in common. Aldridge’s freshman stats: 22.2 MIN/G 9.9-PPG and 5.9- REB are almost identical to Turner’s through eight games, 19.9 MIN, 11.4-PPG, and 6.9-REB, but there are two distinctive differences between the two that might make Turner an even better prospect.

The first advantage Turner has over Aldridge is his shot blocking ability, 23-blocks in eight games vs. 24-blocks in 16-games. Not only has Turner been better defensively, but he’s also showing a more polished jump shot hitting 30.8 % from the 3-point line to Aldridge’s zero attempts in either his freshman or sophomore year. These two areas could allow Turner to supersede his predecessor who was taken second overall in the 2006 NBA draft.
