Pistons release:

"The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has assigned guard Spencer Dinwiddie to the team’s NBA Development League (D-League) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive."

Stan Van Gundy said he wanted to play Spencer Dinwiddie more , but the rookie hasn’t gotten even three minutes the last couple weeks. With Brandon Jennings and D.J. Augustin playing pretty well lately, Dinwiddie’s ceiling is spot minutes – and he has barely gotten them.

This is a good way to develop Dinwiddie, and maybe he’ll be ready for a larger role if someone goes down in front of him later in the season. His progression should be accelerated by the fact that the Pistons have their own D-League affiliate that runs the same system as the parent club.
