Down one with eight seconds remaining and the Spurs having the ball, the Pistons seemingly had one realistic chance to win – immediately foul and then score on the other end – and those odds weren’t great.

So they went with Plan B.

The defending champions couldn’t cleanly inbound the ball, and Andre Drummond scooped up the steal. He passed ahead, and the ball wound up with Brandon Jennings.

Jennings looked back, perhaps expecting Stan Van Gundy to call his final timeout but also letting San Antonio’s defense catch up. Didn’t matter. Jennings hit the shot – the Pistons’ biggest of the season – and extended the winning streak to six. Six!
