Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN:

"Detroit’s interest in Joe Johnson included reaching out to Nets about a package of Brandon Jennings + expiring contracts for Joe per sources"

That unappealing Joe Johnson trade rumor? It’s apparently even less appealing.

Such a deal would also include Jonas Jerebko, Caron Butler and one of Joel Anthony or Luigi Datome. The Nets would also have to include or waive two players – most likely two of Jerome Jordan,Darius Morris, Markel Brown and Cory Jefferson, each of whom has an expiring minimum contract.

When originally discussing Johnson to the Pistons, I suggested a similar deal involving Jodie Meeks instead of Jennings. I value Jennings, despite his season-ending injury, much higher than Meeks. And I wouldn’t even do the deal with Meeks.

Johnson is no longer a star, declining and overpaid. If the Pistons can get him for scraps, they should consider it, but his high salary makes it nearly impossible to get him for scraps.
