I’m a sucker for Bill Simmons’ trade-value rankings. So, I created a list using the same criteria – production, contract status and age – for the Pistons. The order runs lowest-to-highest value.
No. 13 Cartier Martin
2014/15 | 2015/16 | |
Cartier Martin | $1,145,685 | $1,270,964 |
- Player option
I like Martin and haven’t given up hope he’ll provide value on his minimum contract.
But I suspect teams – including the Pistons – view his player option as a burden.
Stan Van Gundy insinuated Martin might be dogging it on an injury earlier this season, and there was a reason the Pistons got him so cheaply this summer. Martin hasn’t done anything since to impress other teams.
