Greg Monroe to start against Celtics on Wednesday

"Barring a setback Tuesday, coach Stan Van Gundy said Monroe will return to the starting lineup Wednesday night against the Boston Celtics"

The Pistons were appropriately patient with Greg Monroe, but if he’s ready to play, they should play him.

There are still questions about how Reggie Jackson fits with Monroe and Andre Drummond – or perhaps more importantly, how Jackson fits with two non-shooting bigs. Monroe’s return to the lineup should provide more clues.

Monroe still likely walks after the season, and Van Gundy will most likely seek a stretch four to replace him. But there’s still a chance Monroe re-signs or the best alternative is also a big without range.
